Ministry is rewarding, but it is hard. And not just on us. It can be hard on our spouses, our kids, and our community.

We feel like we can’t “shut it off” at the end of the day. We might end up in an unhealthy environment but “calling” is keeping us there for too long. Or, it just isn’t paying the bills as costs are rising.

Is it supposed to be this way?

What would you do next? How would you explain your experience so that it makes sense? Who is going to take a chance on you?

In the world of endless job boards, countless confusing job titles, jobs saturated with hundreds of applicants, easy apply buttons with auto rejections, plus AI and ATS… how do you stand out from the noise?

I thought my ministry transition story was unique.

But after watching countless pastors and ministry leaders transition from vocational ministry, I realized they were asking the same questions I was:

  • Am I giving up on God’s call for my life?

  • Who am I going to disappoint?

  • Is it possible to feel purpose in my next job?

  • How do I do this when my network can’t know that I’m leaving?

  • Am I sinning for wanting more money?

And once they were ready to make the jump, the job search is hard enough!

After spending nearly a decade in HR (both in church and corporate), reading thousands of resumes and doing countless interviews, I started career coaching full time in 2020. Soon we saw a huge need helping ministry leaders transition into the marketplace.

In March of 2023, we began to exclusively help ministry leaders make the same transition I did… without all of the hiccups, using everything that I learned in my own transition, my time in HR, and as a career coach.

Before, there was no one to guide you on this journey. We built Ministry To Marketplace to fill the gap. Now you can transition from your ministry job into the marketplace without ever guessing what type of job you would do, who would hire you, how to translate your resume, or what you need to do to land more interviews.
